A Painted Lady on the path today....

Many of the birds are loving the fruitful hedgerows including this Starling....

And other animals too!....

A baby Newt crosses the path, looking for a winter home in the undergrowth....

while a Buzzard soars above....

Meanwhile the Stonechat seems to have settled with us...

As the mist lies in the dusk on the meadow, a heron gulps down a large fish, a bat swoops above and a newt makes his way across the path into the safety of the long grass.  A fox hears children and makes a dash from his hiding place in the reeds and out across the scrape into the gathering gloom.

... But by morning the world is transformed by sunshine and the long tailed tits bob down the hedge, chattering to the blue tits as they go...

Oooo, a new screen for bird watching!

and through the bird screen was spotted... a newly arrived Stonechat...

meanwhile, on a sunny branch, a Migrant Hawker Dragonfly takes a rest...

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness ...

A black-tailed godwit seen on the pool today...

And beautiful butterflies, enjoying the thistles....

Dragonflies and damselflies galore!

An azure damselfly...

A Blue tailed damselfly....

A banded damoselle...

And a family of ducks settling down for the night...

Roadworks on the footpath.....

flowers on the boardwalk.....

and a Red Admiral butterfly on the meadow.....

A Scarce Chaser dragonfly on the river bank...

Lilies on the river....

Their leaves make a good resting place for the damselflies....

and these insects rested for a moment... what amazingly long antenna !

Flies are out and about!!

And another pair of swans have had their cygnets (six) and are exploring the brook...

Seven became four...

Meanwhile, two cheeky young starlings are keeping a lookout to see where their next meal is coming from...

and on Friday there was an invasion of people counting everything from dawn until dusk... and later!

but some of us are just busy feeding our young - this is Mrs Moorhen with one of her new brood....

oh and if there are not enough yellow flowers with all the field buttercups.... the irises have just started coming out too!
