We decided to move house!

Out in the open didn't work and anyway I prefer the view of the flag Irises from here.

When I took a walk round the meadow it does look very pretty at the moment.

Altough most of the time I stay on the pool of course... I have an important job to do....

And mostly from here all I can see is a LOT of canary grass.... which looks like this...

and is full of warblers and Reed Buntings... like this one....

Oh and there is some sad news about those lovely little cygnets.... Seven became four.... I'm trying not to think about it too much!

Just a little news today.... I've decided this is my favourite view of the heron... (you can see me on my nest in the background!)

And while I was pottering around the edge of the pool I came across this very beautiful Azure Damselfly having a little rest.

Oh my, a great big heron has appeared on the pool!!!  Can you spot him?

But I've had a good look at him from every angle and he's friendly

- well he doesn't bother me and he hasn't stopped me building and doing alterations to my nest.

And there are some more exciting additions to the pool too...

Seven gorgeous little cygnets!

Hi,
Welcome to my blog.

Yes, a Coot!

I live near the boardwalk on Avon Meadows

And I see quite a bit of life here.... and I thought I'd share some of it.

So... the big news...   Mrs Mallard had 13 ducklings!  13 little balls of fluff to keep tabs on - I ask you!!  .... and she still has a handful left!  They do look pretty cute, and they seem to have got the idea of diving for duck weed really well.

And this is a new brood just hatched with an odd but lovely little yellow one!

And so of course I just had to join in...

getting busy building a nest -

not sure if right in the middle of the pool is the best place.... I have to see off a lot of other birds and some are very big.....

But all done and I'm happy!

So say hello if you are passing...
and see if you can spot the swallows and house martins who are flying over the pool now or those noisy warblers, twittering in the reeds.
